Healthy Ireland at your Library

Kilkenny County Council Library Service offers Online Mindfulness Supports for Children.

Kilkenny County Council Library Services will host a series of online Mindfulness for Children video workshops with children’s author and mindfulness teacher Louise Shanagher. These sessions will help children to understand their feelings and promote positive mental health and well-being.

Louise is the author of Ireland’s first series of mindfulness books for children called “Mindfully me” and the titles are available as part of our Healthy Ireland at your Library collections and can be found in each of our library branches.

The series will run for 5 weeks and a video will be available to view each Friday at 7.00pm, beginning on the 1st of July.  In these videos, Louise will read from one of her children’s books and discuss the feelings explored in the story followed by some mindful exercises and crafts.

Louise will also include a session for parents with some practical advice on how to be more present and manage their own feelings.

Where-is-happy

“These sessions are a continuation of our Healthy Ireland at your Library programme which was run early in the year throughout our network of libraries. I’m delighted that we can provide these mindfulness sessions for children and their parents during these challenging times” says Healthy Ireland at your Library Co-ordinator, Karyn Deegan.

These video workshops will be available to all, through www.kilkennylibrary.ie and www.kilkennycoco.ie and on our social media platforms.

These online sessions are funded under our Healthy Ireland at your Library programme.
