Thomastown Library

Located in South Kilkenny, Thomastown Library offers a welcoming and inclusive space for readers, learners, and families. Visitors of all ages can enjoy free access to a wide range of books, newspapers, audiobooks, games and DVDs, as well as printing and photocopying services, study spaces, public computers and  Wi-Fi. The library also provides access to a dedicated collection of  Local Studies materials to help our borrowers explore the rich local heritage and history of the area.

With friendly and welcoming staff and regular events such as story-times, book clubs, class visits and educational workshops the library caters to all ages and interests. In a community renowned for its creative spirit, Thomastown Library is a vibrant hub for information, inspiration, and connection. 

 A brand-new Thomastown Library is set to open in 2026, offering expanded services and enhanced spaces for the entire community.

Location

The library is situated on the road to the train station. When entering the Main Street turn right and at the other end of the street, take a left turn. The library is a short distance down this street, on the right hand side adjacent to the large Community Centre and opposite a small car park. The children’s playground is beside it.
