Mayfair Library

The Mayfair Library was officially opened to the public on the 24th of April 2024. This new purpose-built library transformed the site of the former Mayfair Ballroom, and it is now a key feature of the Abbey Quarter development in the heart of Kilkenny City. 
This new library is a vibrant, welcoming and inclusive space for the community of Kilkenny City and County, and has already established itself as a significant community hub.

This 1,800 m2 facility spreads across two floors and includes:

• Our Maker Space is a space for creativity & life-long learning and offers an opportunity to access new tools and technologies including 3D Printers, sewing machines, laptops and a flower press. Here we host many different workshops & events for our community.

• Adult Fiction area / Adult non-fiction area

• Community room with exhibition space

• Meeting room

• Laptop borrowing facility

• Magic Table

• Study space /public pc area

• Large bright children’s area

• Dedicated teenage space

• LEED Gold certification

• ESKER Environmental Science Kits and Home Energy testing kits

• Mayfair Library is a My Open Library. Please talk to staff about access during unstaffed hours.
