About Us

The Kilkenny County Council Library Service provides a dynamic and accessible network of resources to enrich the lives of communities across the county. Operating through eight branch libraries, and a mobile library, the service promotes literacy, lifelong learning, and cultural engagement. Its mission is to offer equal access to information, education, and recreation, supporting personal development and community well-being. In addition to traditional lending, the libraries host events, workshops, and initiatives such as Healthy Ireland and Family Time at Your Library, while also offering online services like eBooks, eMagazines, and language courses. Guided by national and local strategies and part of the Libraries Ireland network, the service plays a vital role in fostering creativity, digital skills, and social inclusion throughout Kilkenny.
