Cruinniú Na nÓg: If These Walls Could Talk Creative Recording

Cruinniú na nÓg

Through a process of mindful observations guided by facilitator Janis Woodgate, teenagers explored the home environment through the senses. They then used creative writing and sound recording to give voice to their homes.

If These Walls Could Talk is a creative project for teenagers, inspired by a recently published collection of poems for families, Empty Nest, edited by poet Carol Ann Duffy.  In this collection, Duffy’s own poem Empty Nest, includes the lines:

Dear child, the house pines when you leave.” and “Our home hides its face in hands of silence.”

This personification of the home inspired the project and an awareness of the benefit of facilitating mindful presence in a collaborative creative project.

The recording of this work will be live from 1.30pm on Saturday 12th June.
