Coding with Kilkenny Library

Coding for Children

null

Our FREE online coding licences from Coding Ireland provide easy tools for parents and children who want to learn how to code. Create stories, games and animations, with easy-to-follow weekly packages from Coding Ireland.

The coding licences give free access to online workshops using Scratch, a visual programming language designed for children. Children work through the lessons themselves, or with the support of parent/ guardian. There is also an option to join a weekly online event hosted by Coding Ireland.

There are 4 coding clubs (ages 6-7, 8-10, 11-13 and 14+).

To sign your child up,  parents/guardians need:

  • The club code (this is prefilled when you click on the link)
  • Library card number (this is not mandatory)
  • Child's first and last name
  • Email address (of parent/ guardian)
  • Password

Please be aware: once you sign up for a license, you have that for 1 year, and it cannot be cancelled or transferred.  You will receive regular/weekly emails with new coding packs.
