Kilkenny Library Service are delighted to be involved in National Poetry Day again, and have organized the following events:

National

Poetry Aloud with Afternoon Tea 3pm at Castlecomer Library

Inspired by America's Favourite Poem Project, where ordinary people read aloud their favourite poem, we invite anybody with a love for a particular poem to come and share it for Poetry Day Ireland! Afternoon Tea will create an ambient atmosphere for this event. All are welcome, book in your slot on 056 779 4461 or email castlecomer@kilkennylibrary.ie

Blackout Poetry Workshops for Children

Loughboy library is celebrating Poetry Day with a unique children's event, this year. Blackout poetry writing provides inspiration using pages from old newspapers, books and magazines. Children will highlight random words and phrases that appeal to them then chunks of unwanted text will be blacked out with thick markers. The remaining words and phrases will become beautiful and creative pieces of poetry which will be recited by the children at the end of the workshop. Bookings will take place through the local primary schools.
